Making Sense of the Misunderstood Epidemic
JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND IT, DOESN’T MEAN IT ISN’T SO
Mental illness, neurological disorders and addictions are one of the most misunderstood and misdiagnosed conditions in our society today. The field of neuroscience is my most passionate area of research due to the often heart wrenching process individuals experience when they are searching for answers and support.
We learned as kids that "the leg bone is connected to the knee bone" etc., yet the simple understanding that all systems of the body work synergistically to produce the ultimate outcome of homeostasis or health is often missing from the diagnostic protocols. This includes understanding the Gut-Brain Axis.
EXPLORING THE GUT-BRAIN AXIS
The good news is that the latest research is focused on the biodiversity of the gut, and the fact that there are more neurotransmitters in the gut than the brain. There is a superhighway of communication through neuronal pathways, which influence emotions, neurotransmitter regulation and the way we relate to each other.
The gut is more significant than we even knew when it comes to living a rich and fulfilling life. Long term and short term medications, poor diet, toxins, mold and stress all influence and disrupt this network. This ultimately affects the brain's ability to balance and regulate. Add to that mix a pandemic that demands separation from family, friends and spiritual communities, and the natural bonds of connection are frayed. Read more...
So much of the population are high functioning (so it seems) and appear to have it all together. However, they too struggle on a daily basis with unregulated emotions and inability to focus. Simple tasks become complex, and relationships are strained.
Have faith! There is hope! Sign up for a Discovery Session to learn how your biology effects your psychology and your ability to transform both.
